The Canvas of Quentin Tarantino
In modern film industry, few directors have positioned themselves in higher Hollywood echelon. Quentin Tarantino is one of the prominent ones. Born on March 27, 1963 in Knoxville ,Tennessee Quentin Jerome Tarantino had a passion for the art of cinema from a very young age. From Neo noir thrillers to Foreign dramas he enjoyed and lived through it all during his childhood. Be it Akira Kurshow’s “Seven Samurai” ,Bong Jong Ho’s “Memories of Murder”, ”Parasite”, Francis Ford Coppola’s “Apocalypse Now” have all influenced his style and technique in different ways.At the age of 17,he quit school to join an acting class. But acting was not quite his cup of tea as he quit acting school saying that the art of directing intrigued him much more. He briefly worked in a video store in California during the time were he sold his first two screenplays True Romance(1993) and Natural Born Killers(1994).

In 1992 he made his directional debut with Reservoir Dogs , a film about six criminals whose jewelry heist goes terribly wrong and their violent aftermath .The crown of the jewel in his career ,Pulp Fiction opened in theatres in 1994 in his only 2nd directional debut.Pulp fiction played a key role in changing people’s idea about American indie films.It revolutionized the concept of non linear storytelling to general audience. It structures the plot with tales of redemption and violence interlaced between the lives of a boxer ,two mob hit men ,a gangstar and his wife ,Diner robbers and other intriguing characters crafted together beautifully by his direction. He received the best original screenplay award from the academy in the 67th Oscars .He was also awarded the Plam’e Dor at the Cannes film festival.This film swept the awards show as it well as it won over the critics.Generations refer to it as a film school must.Uma Thurman in Kill Bill Vol 1& 2
His next film is coined as one the finest history adaptation in the form of Inglorious Bastards(2009).The Story is set during the World War II which follows a group of Jewish American Soldiers who are set to kill the Nazis in the then German occupied France. He collaborated with his famous film partner Samuel El Jackson for Django Unchained (2012).It is classic western starring Jamie fox,Christopher Waltz,Leonardo Di caprio as it shows the surprising duo of a slave and German bounty hunter as they head to Mississippi for a common interest. It certainly did numbers in the box office as it remains his most successful financial one.He also received the Academy award for screenplay for this one.His next project focuses on the post-Civil War western Hateful Eight (2015) as 8 outcasters gets trapped in an inn in the Wyoming winter.The touch of classical Tarantino violence is off the charts in his work. After a long break of 4 years he returned in Hollywood scene with his much anticipated high budget mega cast film Once upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) starring the lights of Leonardo Di Caprio,Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie and countless other top Hollywood icons over the years. The synopsis of the film revolves around a washed up actor and his stuntmen as they cross paths with Charles Mansen in 1969,Los Angeles.The real life murder of Golden Age actress Sharon Tate by Mansen’s Cult was rebranded and recrafted with an everfamous Tarantino twist.
